Ocean adventurer and TV presenter Monty Halls will be on the BBC in the New Year!
The six-part series 'Beachcomber Cottage' charts Monty's life in a small remote cottage on the West Coast of Scotland where he lived for six months. This has been a dream project for Monty. Ever since reading Gavin Maxwell’s classic 'A Ring of Bright Water' as a small child, Monty has wanted to escape to this extraordinary stretch of coastline and discover for himself the wildlife and dramatic landscape. Basking sharks, whales, dolphins and otters have all passed the beach where the cottage sits. Filming has given Monty the chance to follow in Maxwell's footsteps; it has been a magical project inspired by a magical book! The project has involved renovating an ancient bothy, exploring old crofting techniques and even keeping chickens and pigs. Monty is currently finishing the book of the series for publication in mid-January 2009 (Random House). As always, we continue to get rave reviews for Monty’s talks.
